Eastleigh Lakeside Steam Railway 7 ¼ and 10 ¼ inch

The Eastleigh Lakeside Steam Railway first opened in 1992 as a temporary track of 7.25" gauge. It proved a success and permission was granted to lay a permanent line the following year. The line was originally an end-end line, followed by a balloon loop, until the 2000 extensions brought the line to its present circuit formation, with double track a long the route being added at a later date. In 1999/2000. a third rail was added to enable 10.25" locomotives and rolling stock to run on the line. A station building has been added, with a cafe and shop, as well as providing suitable locomotive storage. The lines fleet has grown rapidly since the addidition of dual gauge, and is now home to some historic locomotives.
