New Operators for Evesham
Jim and Helen Shackell are pleased to announce that new operators have been found for the 15'' gauge Evesham Vale Light Railway.
Adrian and Sandra Corke will be taking over on January 3rd 2012 and plan to continue with the same successful format of operation as in recent years. They will bring a wealth of experience to the railway as both are long term volunteers on the Leighton Buzzard Narrow Gauge Railway, while Adrian has recently been head of engineering at the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre.
The mile long railway was constructed over a period of 12 months by Jim and Helen during 2001 and 2002 and opened to the public on 1st August 2002. Since then it has carried over 450,000 passengers around part of the 120 acre Evesham Country Park, situated on the A46 just to north of Evesham, Worcestershire.
The majority of the lines rolling stock will be staying including three steam locomotives, Exmoor Steam Railway 0-4-0 St. Egwin, Severn Lamb 0-6-2 Dougal and Basset Lowke 4-4-2 Count Louis.
A small dedicated group of volunteers assist with the operation of trains and anyone interested in getting involved can contact Adrian & Sandra at the railway on 01386 422282.
