Perrygrove Railway 15 inch

The Perrygrove Railway was opened in 1996 by Michael and Frances Crofts. The railway is close to Coleford in the Royal Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire. The line is a 3/4 mile out-and-back through open grassland and mature woodland, and seems longer than its true length. An extension is planned in the future. Passenger trains are usually steam-hauled. Understandably, the railway's presentation is oriented toward families, the main clientele, but there is much here for the enthusiast including 'Spirit of Adventure' and 'Lydia', the main passenger locos, and the Heywood Collection of early minimum-gauge rolling stock and one loco, Ursula. The railway could be called 'narrow-gauge', being on the upper edge of 'miniature'. A spooky and thoroughly enjoyable Halloween was added in 2008 to the jolly special occasions when Father Christmas comes down the chimney with loads of presents for good children.
