Rudyard Lake Steam Railway 10 ¼ inch
The first railway on this site opened in 1978, and was a two year affair, using a Coleby Simkins L&M tank, which is now at Bickington Steam Railway. In 1985, the current line opened to the public, running on the trackbed of the North Strafford to Leek Branch. A year later, the line was extended to 700 yards, running to Dam station. Here, there is now a shelter and footbridge over Rudyard Lake to the Lakes visitor centre. Trains now run to Hunthouse Wood, where run round takes place. Originally the line was operated by Ivanhoe, a Bullock steamer dating from 1937, soon supplemented in service the lines growing fleet of Exmoor steam locomotives, which now stands at 4, to varying designs, and 2 IC locomotives. Curwen Atlantic Waverley is also resident at the railway.
