Shibden Miniature Railway 10 ¼ inch

The Shibden Miniature Railway first opened in 1983 and was created by Brian Taylor who also built and ran the Kirklees Light Railway in Huddersfield. Set in the park that contains Shibden Hall, trains run in the lower part of the park, passing a picnic area and boating lake. A circular line includes two bridges, a dimond crossing and a tunnel/shed which all trains pass through at the end of the journey. Trains are pulled by either ‘Ivor’ a 0-6-0 saddle tank locomotive, or the two diesels locomotives, the most recent of which was constructed in the workshops at the Kirklees Light Railway. Ivan was rebuilt from a 12 inch gauge loco which originally operated at the Ruislip Lido Railway.
