Steam has returned to Littlehampton!
On Saturday 31st March, the first steam-hauled passenger trains on the Littlehampton Railway were run since the late 1980s.
Under rather cold and grey skies, ‘Sherpa’, visiting from the Fairbourne Railway, took the first train out of Mewsbrook Park at 11:00 with Special Guest Bob Symes on board.
On Sunday the railway ran an all-steam service with at least two departures each hour. The weather was excellent with large crowds in attendance through the day
Sherpa is operating on the following dates:
Friday 6th – Monday 9th April (Easter Weekend)
Thursday 12th – Sunday 15th April
Saturday 28th / Sunday 29th April
Saturday 5th May – Monday 7th May
Normal diesel service will operate throughout the holiday and at weekends until the end of June and daily through July and August.
The railway is also running ‘Driver experience Courses’ on Sherpa – see the website for more details.
