Wellington Country Park Railway 7 ¼ inch

The Wellington Country Park Railway first opened in 1980, as a 500 yard balloon loop, operated by Ray Hammond, who built and overhauled locomotives here. A range of steam locomotives were used, including 'King Tut' which was originally a 9.5" gauge locomotive. In 1999, the park took over operation of the line, changing the layout to a circuit, and purchasing the diesel locomotive and coaches from Crowhurst Engineering. The current route is also 500 yards, and takes you through part of the country park, going through a tunnel enroute. There is a large station and shed area, which accomodates visiting steam locomotives on a regular basis. The park also has some steam locomotives on static display.
