Windmill Farm Railway 15 inch

The Windmill Farm Railway first opened in 1997, and was the idea of Austin Moss. Originally, a short end to end line operated by one carraige and one engine, the line has since grown to a length of 3/4 mile, running from 'Windmill Farm' station to Lakeview, where a picnic site, play area and lake have been created.

Creating a working museum has always been the main goal of owner of the line Austin Moss, allowing pieces of 15" gauge history to do the job they were designed and built for many years ago, whilst preserving them from the scrap heap. He started his collection with one locomotive in 1988, and for many years kept the stock at his house. However, as the number of locos, coaches and wagons increased, a suitable site was searched for and one was found at Windmill Animal Farm, Burscough
