Barleylands Miniature Steam Railway 7 ¼ inch
The Barleylands Miniature Steam Railway opened in 1989 utilising the track and most of the rolling stock from the North Benfleet Miniature Railway. Since then one new locomotive, Gowrie has been added. Normally operated as two sections trains run from Museum to Littlewood Junction and return and Boot Fair to Littlewood Junction and return, the latter usually only on Sunday mornings. From the Shed area behind the museum, this line drops down in a C shape to a run round loop at Littlewood Junction. From there a further line runs, more or less straight to Boot Fair Station. Because of its layout the railway is operated in two halves. On your journey you will pass go over two level crossings and your journey will take around 10 minutes. There are six steam locomotives, two of which are not operational at present.
