Bekonscot Light Railway 7 ¼ inch

7.25" gauge estate railway giving rides at the site of the World's oldest model village. Interesting and convoluted out-and-back route with an inverted balloon loop, triangle junction, figure-of-8 and long spur to
the terminus. It is operated as a minimum/narrow gauge line rather than a miniature railway. Opened in 2001, the BLR carries over 70,000 paying passengers annually. The line was extended to its current length during the winter of 2006/7: full landscaping of the new route will be finished over 2007/8. The line complements the large model village well; the models are separated from the railway at present. It is anticipated that full signalling will be implemented in 2007 as will occasional steam power. The terminus will also be completed, including goods dock and water tower. It is thought that the world's only turntable-mounted point exists at the ingeniously-designed compact terminus! It is unlikely that there will be further extensions to the line due to the density of development around the line. Future developments will focus on adding more railway features and paraphenalia, as well as new rolling stock.
