Knebworth Park Miniature Railway 10 ¼ inch

This railway, which runs in the grounds of Knebworth Park, was opened in 1991 to replace a previous 2ft gauge line. The station is at the top of a short balloon loop, close to the car access to Knebworth Park and an adventure playground. From here trains run downhill before crossing to the opposite hillside. This railway is the “sister” line to the Vanstone Woodland Railway and locomotives sometimes move between the lines. 5 carriages at Knebworth are from Ian Allan’s foray into miniature railways, as are a number of locomotives. The steam locomotive “Pilgrim” originally ran on the Wells & Walsingham Light Railway.
