Lackham Museum & Woodland Railway 7 ¼ inch

This new miniature railway is situated in the grounds of Lackham Museum of Agricultural Life and first opened on this site in July 2004. The line was founded by Peter Sheppard and services were first operated by a petrol hydraulic engine with a tram body called ‘Stumpy’ and a small narrow gauge steam engine called ‘Mouland’.  Initially, to test demand a portable track was used at a Museum event.  This proved successful at which point the operators were offered the current site in the old "Animal Park".  Initially the track was end to end but as finances permitted it was extended until in July 2005 the circuit was complete.  In winter 2005/6 a second platform and loop line was added.  In 2006 an engine shed "Badger's Bottom" was constructed at the site and over winter 2006/7 rail access to the shed was constructed.  This relieves pressure on High Hole (a tunnel) where all the stock is currently stored.
