Ness Islands Railway 7 ¼ inch

The Ness Islands Railway is situated in Bught Park which is on Whin Island in Inverness. It is Britain’s second most northern public miniature railway and opened in 1983. The track was relaid in 1989 along the bank of a river incorporating a 140ft span iron bridge built in 1837. The line is a dumb bell folded over on top of itself, with the station on the C shaped single line in the middle. There are presently three locomotives including a new Western delivered to the line in 2006. The steam locomotive normally operates at weekends only.
