Newby Hall Miniature Railway 10 ¼ inch
The Newby Hall Miniature Railway first opened in 1971 and runs in the grounds of Newby Hall Estate near Ripon. The line runs parallel to the River Ure in the shape of a dumb-bell loop.
The station ‘Newby Hall’ is situated in the middle of the line and has a turntable and engine shed.
Trains depart from here, to the first loop which has a tunnel. The train then goes back through the station onto the second loop, in which it crosses a bridge to run and return to the station.
Motive Power on the railway includes a Battison built ‘Royal Scot’ however this is currently being overhauled, so trains are run by either of the two Severn Lamb locomotives.
