South Devon Miniature Railway 7 ¼ inch
The South Devon Miniature Railway is situated at Buckfastleigh Station on the preserved South Devon Railway. It originally opened in 1977, as a 10.25" gauge line, regauging to 7.25" in 1979. Then named the Riverside Miniature Railway, trains were pulled by ‘Yeo’ which was a 2-6-2 tank steam locomotive built by Milner Engineering. This closed in 1983 and Yeo moved to the Gorse Blossom Railway. The line reopened in 1993 and is a circular line that runs around the picnic area behind the standard gauge locomotive sheds. A new station next to the car park and tunnel have recently been constructed. Trains are pulled by either steam or petrol locomotives.
