Swanley New Barn Railway 7 ¼ inch

The railway opened in 1986 and is the home of an extensive collection of engines and rolling stock. The main service is provided by 6 diesel engines including a replica of the Kestrel and a Deltic amongst others. The SNBR is set up as a means of transport, providing the quickest means of moving people and their luggage from the main car park to the other attractions in the park. Each service train contains one luggage wagon in the set equipped to house 3 buggies and or room for picnics etc. The railways main station Lakeside in a 3 platform terminus, with a turntable at the end. This is controlled by Lakeside signal box which is a 36 lever Westinghouse L-type frame from Gloucester Road, Croydon. On busy summer days, when a 3 or more train service is in operation, a train is crossing in front of the signal box on average every 30 seconds.
